Mission Canyon Mediterranean Revival
Tucked away in a quiet Mission Canyon enclave, this property pairs the American Riviera lifestyle with Italian architectural inspiration. With panoramic views of the city and ocean, our Santa Barbara Mediterranean Revival staging focused on honoring the home’s classic bones while introducing a fresh, modern energy. The goal was to accentuate the historic charm without letting the spaces feel heavy or dated, allowing buyers to easily envision living here.
Inside, the architecture leans into its Mediterranean roots with exposed wood-beamed ceilings, travertine flooring, and custom mahogany French doors. A standout feature of the great room is the hidden bookcase library door, adding a playful architectural detail. To balance these heavier, historic materials, we introduced a light, textural palette. Plush linen seating softens the room’s grand scale, while wrought-iron accent chairs mirror the metalwork found throughout the estate. In the dining and kitchen areas, a vintage cheese print, pops of yellow, and fresh lemons tie the space back to its sunny, Mediterranean-inspired roots, while an original piece of art by J. J. L’Heureux gives the kitchen a bespoke, curated finish.
The indoor-outdoor flow extends into a dedicated wellness room. Styled with a cycling bike, a yoga mat, and textured floor poufs, this sunlit studio opens directly to the grounds. Outside, the terrace is arranged to maximize the ocean and valley views. The al fresco dining space uses wrought-iron dining chairs to bridge the home’s traditional architecture with modern outdoor living, while a low-profile wood lounge set surrounds the fire feature. Back inside, the primary suite is anchored by a cozy fireplace, tailored linen bedding, and soft woven textures, grounding the home in comfortable, approachable luxury.
